Murray River Council appoints its first youth engagement officer

MURRAY River Council has appointed Belinda Cantwell as its youth engagement officer.

Interim general manager Margot Stork said support for youth was limited to the former Murray Shire. She said there was also no specific council funded support to the youth cohort in the former Wakool Shire. As part of the transition to Murray River Council, a review of the youth engagement program was undertaken.

Ms Stork said it was clear this much valued community program was relevant to the whole council area. Murray River Council will now directly deliver a youth engagement program with an expanded focus. Opportunities to support and expand services to youth will be monitored across the wider Murray River Council region.

Belinda started her new role on August 4 and will be based in Moama’s Community Centre.
